Our Dolly Sods Mapping Project: Drawing Topo Maps

Drawmap is a freely distributed program that draws relief and topo maps from raw USGS data files. As with most such software, the best starting point is freshmeat.net
I have modified the program adding the ability to import the way point text files generated by the gpsutil software. In keeping with the spirit of its GPL license, my modified software is also available here. Be advised, this is still in a really rough state.
Data Sources: SDTS
The drawmap software can use data in several different formats, and in particular this maps where drawn from data in STDS a "Spatial Data Transfer Standard". Data in this format includes grids of elevation points (DEM files) as well as line graphics (DLG files).
The data set use for this maps is available starting at the EROS home page. I used the following datasets:
- 7.5 min DEM
  HOPEVILLE, LANEVILLE, BLACKBIRD KNOB, and BLACKWATER FALLS
- 7.5 min DLG
  HOPEVILLE, LANEVILLE, BLACKBIRD KNOB, and BLACKWATER FALLS
- 1:100K DLG
  ELKINS EAST and KINGWOOD EAST.
